Im Laufe der Geschichte und im Wandel der Zeit gerieten die Sio-Po-Kua-Gedichte fast in Vergessenheit, und ein großer Teil ging verloren. Heutzutage können nur noch wenige Senioren in Taiwan eine Handvoll der überlieferten Verse und Melodien vortragen. Dabei haben sie große kulturelle Bedeutung: Musikhistoriker glauben, dass die Sio-Po-Kua-Gedichte als Vorläufer der taiwanischen Oper anzusehen sind. Mit einer akustisch inszenierten Fotoausstellung kann dieses musikalisch-literarische Erbe nun in Elbe-Elster im Mitteldeutschen Marionettentheatermuseum Bad Liebenwerda erlebt werden.
