Throughout history and over the years, the Sio Po Kua poems are largely forgotten, whilst most have been lost. Nowadays, only a few seniors can recite a handful of traditional verses and melodies.

 

At the same time, the poems have a significant cultural importance: music historians believe that they are the predecessors of Taiwanese opera. With an acoustically staged photo exhibition, this musical and literal heritage is being showcased in the Central German Marionette Theater Musuem in Bad Liebenwerda.
